Premier’s Council on Skills

October 2022

In 2022 Tom was appointed to the Premier’s Council on Skills, as the representative for Alberta’s post-secondary education sector. The council was created to advise the Premier and Minister of Advanced Education on aligning post-secondary programming with industry needs, helping post-secondary graduates attain the skills they need to succeed in Alberta’s evolving economy.

Finalist, Western Legacy Award

2014

Tom was recognized as a finalist for the Western Legacy Award by the Calgary Stampede in 2014. This nomination highlights his enduring commitment to preserving and promoting the cultural heritage and traditions of the region, further establishing his role as a community leader.

Wall of Fame, Meyers High School

October 2011

His alma mater, W.R. Myers High School in Taber, Alberta, honored Dr. Snell with the prestigious “Wall of Fame” award in 2011. This award is bestowed upon Myers High graduates who have demonstrated exceptional service to their community. Dr. Snell’s recognition underscores his deep roots in Alberta and his continuous dedication to his hometown.

Alberta Centennial Medal

The Government of Alberta awarded Dr. Snell with the Alberta Centennial Medal in 2005.
